How do you change the habits of a nation? GE built a centre in Dharhan in Saudi Arabia to educate their leaders about how to prepare for when the oil runs dry. 12 interactive touchtables with 4 supporting screens would then give insights about GE’s offerings.

Client: Sony Pictures

Agency: Spinnaker Direct

The Smurfs in 3D featured on MSN’s homepage as a fullscreen page takeover. Smurfs has a huge fan base and so to attract them and new viewers I designed and built an animated smurf that runs around the page bumping into to page elements and then gets inside the MPU. When the user clicks the MPU, the page slides down to reveal the trailer and additional content.

Agency: Spinnaker Direct

Spinnaker asked me to design and build the YouTube home page takeover for the feature film Battle: Los Angeles. The concept was to increase the glitch effects on the page nearer to the launch date and on the lauch day the page would be destroyed by the alien invasion. The site received a huge amount of traffic topping the most unique page visits for a branded YouTube channel.

VML Showreel

Client: VML

Creating a showreel for your company is a very similar experience to building your own portfolio. In both you want the work to shine and be presented at its very best. Luckily I had a lot of great work to showcase so was not short on material. To present VML as a dynamic, exciting digital company I created a whistle stop tour of the work with fly-through transitions cleverly linking you from one piece to another.

Client: Credit Suisse
Agency: Havas London

Credit Suisse wanted to show how their partnerships benefit their business clients. As part of this campaign we showcased several clients and created unique animations for each to sit on the credit suisse website. Several animators worked on this project but I took Akris, Frescobaldi, Oxygen.

For Oxygen I had to create 4 formats, the most intensive was for an airport lounge display screen. I had to build an entirely new scene in photoshop then animate the girl on the scooter though one scene into the other and have her drive off into the distance with subtle movement from the dinosaurs and waterfalls. I also created a hero panel for the website, MPUs and leaderboards.

Arthur Christmas

Client: Sony Pictures

Agency: Spinnaker Direct

Arthur Christmas was Sony’s big 2011 Christmas movie, they wanted a big attention grabbing Yahoo Homepage takeover. We delivered a Yahoo world first, Yahoo featured the campaign on their Internet Week stall and needless to say Sony were over the moon. We synced all four banner spaces to create a continuous background and then animated elves and Arthur within this space. Once the intro video has finised I included lovely details like the elf’s eyes following the mouse and hotspots where the characters would jump or swing out. Once you click you are taken to the trailer then to the menu.

Futures Company

Client: The Futures Company
Agency: VML

The Futures Company wanted to explain what they do. Which is fairly difficult for a company that predicts the future, deals in the abstract and offers tailored solutions to clients. The solution, after various concepting phases, was to illustrate this in a video, balancing creativity, information and tone of voice.

Client: Warner Bros
Agency: Bauer

To promote the new Warner Bros game ‘Fear 3′ I concepted, designed and built this MPU banner of a beating heart. Bauer specified it needed to work as a sequential ad so the more times you see the ad or the more times you touch over it with the mouse the faster the heart beats and the heavier the breathing gets.

Rimmel

Client: Rimmel
Agency: VML

Whilst at VML, to support our pitch submission to Rimmel, I created a quick video demonstrating our idea. It was quite a technically challenging brief as the designs had hundreds of photos that needed to be animated but, with a little help from After Effects’ expressions, I managed to animate hundreds of photos in a 3D space and bring a 2D design to life.
